TJ’s Brew Works turns 5

July 2017 marked as a 5th anniversary for one of Pune’s first and, now iconic microbreweries TJ’s Brew Works. Located at Amanora mall this brew house is known for delivering some of the healthiest craft beers with some equally nutritious food.


TJ Venkateshwaran, fondly known as TJ, founder TJ’s Brew Works and partner Girish Monie met sometime back, and in a casual conversation discovered they shared similar ideologies while they were independently experimenting and innovating with healthy food choices in life. This resulted in a new collaboration where the duo decided to pursue their passions under the same roof with an already established commercial entity at TJ’s Brew Works.

The seating at TJ’s Brew work comprises of indoor as well as outdoor option. The outer seating gives a perfect view of the Amanora mall and is just perfect to spend some time with some healthy beers.

Soup

Cream of coconut & broccoli

Coconut & broccoli blended to a fine paste and the rich creamy consistency just makes the soup extraordinary. Truly speaking this is the best edible way i can have broccoli.

Roasted beetroot salad

The succulent beetroot slices were roasted to perfection which were cooked but still carried the juice & texture of being called a salad.

Appetizers

TJ’s Paneer Chilli

Succulent paneer slices tossed in Indian spices & veggies like spring onions, bell pepper, red cabbage & garlic.

Spent crusted onion rings

The thick onion rings were coated with spent grain which gave the appetizer an crunchy texture to it. Spent grain is the residue left over after the Wort, which is the liquid extracted from the malt during the brewing process. This residue is very healthy, super rich in protein, fiber content and a lot of macronutrients.

TJ’s BBQ Wings & Zucchini Wrapped Prawns

 

#The real deal non veg appetizers. The TJ’s BBQ Wings & Zucchini Wrapped Prawns both are something which in one way or the other carry the healthy note in their making. The prawns were coated with very thin layers of zucchini rolled like popsicle.

Main Course

 

The breads, buns, baos and cookies made from spent grain with Chef Ubeid’s expertise make these common dishes unique at TJ’s Brew Works. Some of the interesting dishes made from spent grain at TJ’s Brew Works are; Dark Malt Bao, a bao made from dark malt used to make brews with a stuffing of Teriyaki Chicken or Chilly Tofu, TJ’s Spent Grain Pelmeni is a healthy spin on a native Russian dish, Pelmeni comes with a filling of either Spinach and Ricotta or Chicken.

The Mediterranean lamb and cottage cheese burger were the real deal burgers which were accompanied by same regular yet super fresh fries. The paneer was grilled and layered with cucumber and other green leafy vegetables. The ravioli tasted perfect with the pesto sauce dominating the flavors. Though the presentation can be taken care of.

Nudo Pizzas (Maida free)

 

Another food revolution at TJ’s Brew Works is the introduction of Gluten Free, Grain Free and Guilt-Free Pizzas by Nudo Pizzeria Al Naturale, the brainchild of Girish Monie.
Nudo pizzas are made with interesting Superfoods in their 5 Crusts; Almond, Buckwheat, Quinoa, Amaranth and Water chestnut, Cauliflower and Whey Protein, with unusual sauces such as their Classic Red Tomato Marinara, Roasted Garlic White Sauce and Almond and Pine Nut with Basil – Green Pesto.
From its Signature list; Nude Farm Veg, is a Quinoa Crust Pizza with a Roasted Garlic White Sauce, Nudo Pepperoni, made with Amaranth Crust and Classic Red Tomato Marinara Sauce are some of the Nudo pizzas that are good for you and taste divine.

Each of the pizza was handmade and comprised of different bases and toppings. These array of pizzas are the healthiest options available nowhere currently. The restaurant will soon be launching the Nudo Pizza as a home delivery option as well.

Desserts

The Chocolate Pave is a delicious sugar free dessert. Lemon buckwheat tart comprised of a thin crusted tart coating and lemon buckwheat filling. The extra topping of lemon and mint added zing to it.

The restaurant is located at East block of Amanora Mall.
